Friday, May 2, 2008
After the defeat between the New Subaru Impreza STi. The Mitsubishi engineers changes tactics and came out with a another version of EVO X, The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X MR. The stock engine was revised and tweaked to produce 20hp more out of the stock engine. Now the EVO runs 305hp on the wheels.
The Evo X MR chassis has been stiffened up for more sharper cornering and it features a new front end which consist of extra vents to improve cooling of the engine. Lets just see how's this newly revamped Evo can deal with Subaru's STi Spec C.

Are you sure its 305hp at the wheels?

This is a JDM version of the EVO..The stock Evo X is 280ps/276ps. Roughly upgraded increase to 305hp..however the US spec is 291hp stock..but in reality if u dyno the car it sometimes it does not even match the manufacturer's rating. Well lets just wait for the perfomance sheets to come out..

I think what anonymous meant was if the quoted power is at the flywheel or at the wheels. In all probability, 305hp is at the flywheel. On the dyno, 4WD cars tend to suffer about 15% drivetrain lag. So on the dyno, it may make about 250hp. Front and rear drive cars suffer a little less, maybe around 10%.

Horsepower(hp) is the power rating to the flywheel..This is a JDM version of the EVO..The stock Evo X is (*280hp/276ps) <--typing error.
yeah aetaaas thats true about 4wd on dyno.

do they really think that the competition between evo and sti are all about power?i think we should look at the handling side and the safety side of both cars.which handles the best cornering line or even on the track.which car supports the safety of the driver.just like the touge master always said,"its not the hp,its the handling and the set up that counts.."

^You make a good point that HP is not the only measure of a good car, and most of the time its just for bragging rights, but its time the Evo got more power. The chassis can easily take up to 400hp no problem. I mean, theres no point mating such an advanced 4WD system to only 280hp. Even the Evo IX FQ-360 (360hp if youre a bit thick) had no problem with its power. So this is a step in the right direction.
I don't know much about the safety of the STI, but the Evolution X has full on safety equipment for the driver; steering wheel airbag, curtain airbag, side airbag and knee airbags. Plus the new chassis integrates Mitsubishi's RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) for improved safety of the passenger area as a whole.
I can't comment on the handling of either car, just in the off chance a dedicated fanboy (this site's Project STI?) comes and burns my house down. >.<
Anyway, when will the Evo be hitting out shores? Carzine help us! ^_^

hey..Im not braggin on one side here...all cars have their own specialty and stand out features.. If u wanna see how the Evo X & the STi handle corner, go through my previous post that i posted video of it battling out.
The project STi is just one of the car that i help feature on this blog.If you have a ride that you wanna show the world how do you modify, i could help out by making coverage of your project car. Just give me an email about your ride.
Anyways about the Mitsubishi Evo X..Im also eager to look at it personally myself. But here's the rumour, a friend of mine told me that The Evo X is already at Brunei..
Anyone got leads on this? I'll try to ask around GHK about this soon
Cheers
