Ride Of The Month: September: Mugenized Civic Type R

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Here I present to the ride of the month for September, The Mugenized Civic Type R. Upon the arrival of the new 4 door civic type R (FD2), the car is already equipped with high performance parts such as the high revving 225hp IVTEC K20A engine, 6 speed manual gearbox ,torsen helical Limited slip differential and Brembo brake system. For a start, this Civic type R is the one and only Blue body paint Civic type R in town. The performances and aerodynamic upgrades are the key feature of this ride. This is one of the cleanest Honda Civic type R in town.

Looking at the exterior of the Civic type R, It screams out JDM. The owner uses a full Mugen aerodynamic parts which consist of a Mugen front lip, Mugen front grille, Mugen rear Diffuser, Mugen rear wing and GruppeM Carbon Fiber Scoop. The Mugen rear wing is used to increase down force and it also make a huge statement on the overall look of the car.

This Civic type R is not just a car with good looks but it also got quite a punch under the hood that it can make a standard turbo car from run for their money. Under the hood is a K20 IVTEC engine with few performance upgrade parts on bay. For easier breathing of the high revving engine, a GruppeM carbon fiber ram air system was installed. For every imported car, the problem with it is the speed limiter. For this car the speed limit was dealt with by replacing the stock ECU with a high performance MR Racing ECU. The other modifications on the car are the Toda exhaust manifold, test pipe and Toda cat back exhaust with Titanium tip. With all the engine modifications, the owner claims his ride is packing up 250-260hp range.

Under the carriage, the civic type R still uses its stock suspension and its stock high performance Brembo disc brake system. The stock suspension is already satisfying enough for the owner of the ride. The wheels are also standard 18inch Civic Type R wheels wrapped with Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires

On the interior side, the In Car Entertainment (ICE) system consist of Alpine IVA-W502 Multimedia system head unit, Focal K2P and KPS component speaker set, Focal 4.75 Amplifier, Alpine PDX-1.1000 Monoblock and Alpine Type R 12inch subwoofer. This is a good combination for sound quality (SQ). The overall amount of money spent on modifying this ride is 15K. Well to me, its money well spent. No matter how much you spend on a car, the important thing in the end is that you are satisfied with it. Once again I would to congratulate the owner of this clean Civic Type R.
