Thinking of playing Jazz in 2009
Tuesday, December 30, 2008
There are two version of the Jazz offered by the dealer, a 1.5Liter Ivtec with 5speed automatic Steering Paddle shifters and a 1.3Liter Ivtec with 5 speed auto or manual transmission. For 1.3Liter ivtec engine it is rated 100hp while the 1.5Liter ivtec engine is 120hp. Pretty good enough for fast pace economical engine.
The car do comes with surprises. Eventhough the shape of exterior is small but the interior is spacious. With multiple configurations of the seats, you can manage to put in a full size bicycle in it. Now that is spacey. What is Jazz without music, the new Honda Jazz comes with an Mp3/WMA playable head unit fitted with a Usb interface for the Ipod Users.
The Jazz comes with 14inch Front disc and 13inch rear disc brake mated with a Honda ABS system to prevent the wheel locking in emergency braking situation. Front airbags also comes in standard.
The Jazz comes in variety of colors; Premium Deep Violet Pearl, Milano Red, Taffeta White, Crystal Black Pearl, Cerrulean Blue Metallic and many more. Happy Motoring Co Sdn Bhd also offers a Modulo bodykit for the jazz as optional accersories.
The price tag for the new Jazz is however a bit pricey, for a 1.5Liter Ivtec(Top range model) $32,990 and for the 1.3Liter Ivtec Auto is $28,990.

Ride Of The Month: November 2008: H22 Madness
Honda Civics has been around from way back and it has been one of the local crowd favorites since Brunei Drag Racing at National Stadium in 1990’s. The 1992 Honda Civic EG is the best choice for Honda lovers when it comes to modification. Why? Well the Honda Civic EG is light weight, superb suspension setup, and the egg-shaped body design that last for ages and most importantly the engine bay is forgiving for any Vtec engine transplant variation. The Honda EG engine bay is favorable to be transplant with B16, B18, B20, H22, K20 engines. In the US, up until now the Honda Civic EG is one the most highly respected and never ending car that is featured in most well known car tuning magazine.
Here I present to you November 2008 ride of the month, H22 Madness. This is a 1992 Honda Civic EG with few body parts of EG6 (it means the SIR version of the Civic EG) and a heart of a Prelude H22a Vtec engine. Ever since I have first laid my eyes on this civic since two weeks ago, I know something dark lurks inside that clean JDM look.
Underneath the hood lies a Honda BB1 Prelude Vtec engine, 2.2 liter Vtec 4 cylinder powerhouse that is rated 200hp at 6800rpm in stock form. The engine was newly overhauled polished and hand ported cylinder head. The engine mount is custom made to make the 2.2 Liter engine fit snugly inside the engine bay. The H22a engine is lightly modified with bolt on parts such as the Apexi Power Intake, 2.5inch custom pipe from front collector to back and finished off with a custom 2.5inch stainless steel exhaust muffler. HKS oil filler cap was added to enhance the overall engine appearance. Surprisingly with this engine transplant, the EG still maintains its power steering and air conditioner. As for the aircon gas, the owner converted from R12 to R134 gas to keep the cabin temperature cooler during the hot days.
This Honda Civic looks clean, simple and off course has “JDMness” all over it. The owner fitted a custom front bumper, side skirts, rear lip and Spoon sports rear ducktail spoiler. To keep the car weight down, a carbon fiber hood was fitted. The car has just been recently repainted with a Crystal Clear white paint with a high gloss metallic black on the roof. The engine bay was also painted with dull black effect to keep the engine neat and tidy. Another cool thing about this civic is the swapping of the normal EG roof to the JDM EG6 Sunroof complete with interior headliner and OEM sunroof switch. A set of JDM EG6 plastic Headlights and Depo clear side markers replaced the stock ones.
The underbody of car was not left alone; a black anti corrosive paint was applied to the underbody of the car to prevent corrosion. Under the fenders is a set of JDM white BuddyClub P1 Racing Wheels 17X7 inch with offset +35 front and rear wrapped around with Yokohama AVS ES100 205/40/17 tires. The rear drum brake was converted to a disc brake by using a set of JDM DC2 GSR rear disc brakes. All the four brake calipers are painted with signal red. JDM EG6 absorbers with Tanabe springs are fitted to lower the ride height and improve the handling characteristic of the car.
The interior of the car was not left stock by the owner. The owner fitted a JDM EG6 dashboard with white face speedometer, a JDM EG6 front and rear seats complete with a JDM EG6 front door interior panels and JDM EG6 center console box. The driver seat was changed to a JDM EK9 Recaro reclining seats with a genuine quick release 4 point TRW Sabelt Harness. For entertainment, the owner fitted a JVC Head unit with Alpine Type R 5" mid speakers and a 10" Kicker L5 solo baric supported by a 1400watts dual channel amplifier. A Momo steering wheel, zero one motorsports speed cut, speed meter and a pivot baby timer are one of the interior accessories found inside the car. A Do-luck multi color vtec indicator and Genuine DC2 Type R aluminium gear knob was fitted complete with genuine EK9 Type R key. Now that’s what I called complete JDM conversion. A lot of money and dedication was put into the car.
-The Owner Story-
“Well I guess it took me nearly 5 years to get it to like what it is today. It had two different paint jobs but was never satisfied with it, when I first bought the car, it was standard back then, and it didn't even have a/c or alloy wheels. Ever since my child hood, I’ve always wanted to have a car that i can work with, a project that I would turn from "zero to Hero". When I first took in my EG, I knew that this could be "it". Since I was a student back then, I had to rely on my allowance to upgrade my EG. always been a fan of the legendary EG6, I started collecting and buying JDM parts for my car just to make it as civilized as his "half brother". It was after three years I have owned the car I had enough money to transplanted an h22a engine to my car”
”But why an H22a? Well for starters, the H22a is mostly regarded as the "blacksheep" of the Honda family. People would mostly agree that the engine is relatively "heavy" during acceleration. Yes indeed, but if you put that big block engine in a small civic like an EG, the power to weight ratio is absolutely amazing! and the reliability of an h22a is unquestionable. I’ve had my engine for two years now and had not experience any major problems. My friend is also running the same setup for six years and his car is still alive and kicking! That is what I am looking for in a car, one that can give me the power to tailgate turbo cars and yet still maintain that standard engine. It may not be the perfect engine but it is sure a blast to drive! ;) But who know what will happen next right? What I can tell you is that this game will never end. The H22a is like a "Pandora box" yet to be opened, with the right tuning and modification 300whp Na is just around the corner...hehehe”
Once again, I would like to congratulate the owner of this awesome JDM orientated Honda Civic EG.

Prodrive plan on taking F1 racing by purchasing Honda F1
Not long ago Honda declared their forfeit to Formula 1 racing, ProDrive owner David Richards has revealed he has turned his focus on a potential return to Formula One racing after Subaru announced its withdrawal from the World Rally Championship three days ago.
With Richards allegedly eyeing the purchase of Honda’s F1 team, he told the British newspaper The Sun that this week’s developments “clears the decks and gives me a bit of spare time to think about it.”
“The new structure for F1 from 2010 onwards, with new regulations coming and very significant cost cutting programmes, certainly make it more appealing and far more suitable for a company such as ours,” he added.

Subaru Quits Rally Too..
Tokyo, December 16, 2008 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today announced the withdrawal from the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) at the end of the 2008 season.
FHI has participated in the WRC together with Prodrive, a motorsports and automotive engineering group in the UK, over the past 19 years. Subaru has won three manufacturer’s championship titles and three driver’s championship titles in its history of rally racing.
FHI considers it has achieved its original target in WRC participation. However, while considering positioning the WRC activity in Subaru branding strategy towards the future, our business environment has been dramatically changed due to the quick deterioration of the global economy. In order to optimize the management resources and to strengthen further the Subaru brand, FHI decided to withdraw from WRC activities at the earliest timing
President Mori commented that reaching this decision has been an extremely difficult task, not least with regards to the countless Subaru fans that for many years have cheered the legendary Subaru blue liveried Impreza World Rally Car; “We would like to express our sincere appreciation for our fans’ strong and loyal support worldwide. They will remain an invaluable treasure for us.”

Audi crowned year’s most improved brand
· “Automobilwoche” honors Audi with this coveted title
· 91 awards worldwide in 2008
· Audi impresses with young models and exciting design
Ingolstadt – The trade magazine “Automobilwoche” has honored Audi as the year’s most improved brand; at the same time, the DEKRA testing company has rated the Audi A6 as the “Most Reliable of All Classes”: just two highlights in a long list of honors for the Audi brand in 2008.
This year the brand with the four rings not only delivered an impressive domestic performance with 35 awards but proved its excellence in the international arena as well with 56 prizes.
The Audi R8, the A5 and the A4 are the Audi models that won the most awards. Immediately after its debut, the Audi A4 was chosen as “Europe’s Auto1" by “Autobild” readers from 26 countries. At the New York International Auto Show, the Audi R8 for the first time received two “World Car of the Year Awards” – for Performance and Design.
An early highlight in the year among the 35 domestic awards was the quadruple win (A3, A4, A6, R8) among the readership of the trade magazine “auto motor und sport”.
In addition to the familiar stars of the brand, a newcomer to the Audi family attracted attention particularly toward year’s end – the Audi Q5. Even before its market launch on November 14 it captured two design awards and the coveted “Golden Steering Wheel” in the SUV category. These were followed by three additional prizes, including the “Euro Car Body Award” by an international panel of experts.
Audi owes the success of its vehicles both to its recent range of models and to their especially appealing design. In “Automobilwoche”, the manufacturer with the slogan “Vorsprung durch Technik” is credited by automobile analyst Jürgen Pieper not only with improved quality and technology but even with design leadership in this industry. Audi Design Chief Stefan Sielaff agrees: “Presently we not only have the newest range of models, but also the most beautiful.” This has a very favorable effect on the brand image: In the comprehensive image report by the trade magazine “Auto Zeitung”, Audi won the overall top honors in 2008 for the fifth time in a row.

2010 BMW Z4 Official Pictures
Tuesday, December 16, 2008
Here is the new and improved BMW Z4. It's been a while since I ever seen a beautiful looking roadster since the Honda S2000. The new 2010 BMW Z4 is certainly an eye catcher. The design of the front headlamps and the wide kidney shaped grills compliments the overall design of the front end, making it look meaner but still shout out elegance. The most noticeable change to the Z4 is the retractable metal roof over the soft top previously on its predecessor. It took 20second for the roof to be retracted.
There's three engine variations for the new Z4:
- The Z4 sDrive23i is for Euro-only, powered by a 2.5L inline-6 making 204 horses mated with a six-speed manual or automatic.
- The Z4 sDrive30i, which features the normally-aspirated 3.0Liter Inline 6 engine. Here, it makes 258 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. The sDrive30i also comes with either a 6-speed manual or automatic.
- The Z4 sDrive35i which gets the twin turbo 3 liter engine and 306 horsepower. 0-62 takes 5.2 seconds with the manual transmission. Theres another option if you wanna go even faster, the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Honda quits Formula One
Saturday, December 6, 2008
What a shocking news. Honda has confirmed their withdrawal from all Formula One activities. Honda Motor Company chief Takeo Fukui in Tokyo confirmed Friday afternoon that the Japanese manufacturer is withdrawing ahead of the 2009 season.
"We, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., have come to the conclusion that we will withdraw from all Formula One activities, making 2008 the last season of participation.
This difficult decision has been made in light of the quickly deteriorating operating environment facing the global auto industry, brought on by the sub-prime problem in the United States, the deepening credit crisis and the sudden contraction of the world economies.
Honda must protect its core business activities and secure the long term as widespread uncertainties in the economies around the globe continue to mount. A recovery is expected to take some time.
Under these circumstances, Honda has taken swift and flexible measures to counter this sudden and expansive weakening of the marketplace in all business areas. However, in recognition of the need to optimize the allocation of management resources, including investment regarding the future, we have decided to withdraw from Formula One participation. We will enter into consultation with the associates of Honda Racing F1 Team and its engine supplier Honda Racing Development regarding the future of the two companies. This will include offering the team for sale" - Takeo Fukui stated

2010 Mazda 3 hatchback
Friday, December 5, 2008
The Mazda 3 hatchback is back with a new look. Well it is now comes with a huge smile on its face. The front end of the car is totally fresh with a few resemblance from its faster brother, the newly facelift Mazda RX8. Looking from the side, the Mazda 3 still looks the same as its previous predecessor. The rear end has a few changes especially to the taillights and the rear bumper. The interior is what I would be expecting the most out of this new Mazda 3, its pure classy well built cabin as u would expect from other Zoom-Zoom Mazda line up. There's going to be a lot of engine to choose from for this Mazda 3 which includes a 1.6L Turbo diesel engine, 2.0L and 2.5L engine. ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control system (TCS) DSC, front, side, and curtain airbags comes as standard.

Ride Of The Month: October: SUBZERO
Tuesday, December 2, 2008
Here I present the ride of the month for October 2008, SUBZERO. This is one of the most well sought after 2006 Subaru Impreza Wrx Version 9 in
Starting with the exterior and working his way into suspension, wheels, interior and engine his build wrx is an all around well balanced machine. The owner uses a full Zero Sport bodykit for the wrx. Zero sport is a Japanese company that is dedicated in developing racing parts especially for the Subaru vehicles. The menacing front bumper of the Zero Sport screams out “Get out of my way!” The overall look of the car instantly changes from standard to the extreme. An STI spoiler was fitted replacing the standard Wrx spoiler.
A set of Black Racing Pro N1 wheels size 17inch were chosen for the ride and were equipped with Yokohama Advan R1 225/45/R17 Tyres on all four wheels. To improve the handling of the ride, the owner fitted a set of JIC Magic coilovers, front and rear Tanabe Strut Bar. This Wrx still uses a standard Disc brake system.
Inside the cabin, you will find a set of custom red bucket seats, Apexi RSM, Pivot Boost Meter, HKS EVC 4 Boost Controller, HKS FCON VPro ECU and Apexi Turbo Timer. The Apexi RSM is one of the essential equipment for monitoring the engine.
Now that we have talked about the exterior, interior and also under the car, let’s get down to the nitty gritty this is the best feature of this ride. The 2.5liter Turbocharged Boxer engine is nicely upgraded with bolt on performance parts. When you look at the engine at a first glance, you might notice is the aluminium front mounted intercooler piping. The Blitz front mounted intercooler was used to cool off the high powered HKS GT2835 Turbo Charger. A 4x 800cc / Min Power Enterprise Injectors and 255lph Walbro Fuel Pump were used to transfer optimum fuel to the engine. The internal parts of the Subaru Wrx were remaining stock for now. An Apexi air cleaner, a set of HKS Racing Iridium Plugs, HKS Twin Power DLII, HKS SQV Blow off valve, Cuzco Oil Catch Tank and HKS Internal Wastegate were also fitted to the engine. For more efficient cooling of the engine, a Replica Greddy Oil Cooler was used. A Custom 2.5inch to 3inch Downpipe, Custom Full 3inch Mid Pipe and an After Market Marco Exhaust 4inch Tips were used to round out the system. To control the engine air and fuel ratio of this beast, a stand alone HKS FCON V Pro ECU was used. Mr Shumpei Ohura (HKS Master Tuner) was responsible for tuning this ride. With all the engine modifications, the Wrx is now pushing out an impressive 400hp at 1.3 bar boost.
This shows that with proper performance parts and engine tuning, a standard Subaru Wrx are also capable in producing high amount of Horsepower. Congratulations to MrWrxDC5 and Special thanks for sharing his ride with us.
