A quick definition on a "Sleeper look": It is a car that simply looks innocent/standard i.e. no modification on the exterior or otherwise stock but have a heavily modified engine powerful enough to get you in trouble. Cars like these are the ones that you should be aware about particularly if you think you can out challenge them just because they look so standard otherwise you are the one that gets smoke.

DSC02547
The emblem that demands RESPECT

A perfect example of a “Sleeper look” is this Nissan R33 GTR AKA Godzilla. This Nissan R33 GTR looks pretty much stock from the exterior, no aftermarket body kits, no oversize bling-bling wheels, no nothing except the fact is this deadly machine can scare off a Porsche 911 on a drag race. Because you know why, this Godzilla got everything done on its engine bay that it looks like a plumber’s nightmare. Horsepower is everything when it comes to this Godzilla.

DSC02538

There’s nothing much to describe the car’s exterior and interior just that the car is still in perfect standard condition. The big deal of this Godzilla is what in store in the engine bay. Let’s get down to the important part of this article. Pop the hood of the Godzilla, the first thing you might notice would be the repainted RB26DETT engine cover that really stands out. After that you will see the huge twin turbocharger on the right-hand side.

The Godzilla uses a twin Greddy Garrett T67 turbo and it fits tightly against the polish intercooler piping with Sard couplings. Trust twin core intercooler is fitted to the whole system which ensures the high boost engine running at a safe operating condition.

When you observe the engine cover, it says RB26. It means that the engine is a 2.6 litre inline 6 but for this GTR, the RB26 is no longer applicable for it because this Godzilla is fitted with a complete JUN 2.7Litre Stroker kit meaning the 2.6 litre now bumps up to 2.7litre. What does this mean; it means that more power and torque can be push out of this RB27 engine.

Most of the internal parts of the engine have been replaced with high performance parts from JUN Auto Mechanic. A Sard Fuel regulator, HKS Fuel rail, JUN Intake Plenum are one of the visible modifications done on the engine.

With three Bosch fuel pumps on tap to ensure there’s no shortage of fuel when foot hits firewall. A Veilside straight pipe make sure that the engine’s tune is easily heard and if you think a lion is a king of the jungle then you haven’t heard this Godzilla roar.

With so much power and torque under the hood, there’s no point in using stock transmission to handle it. Even an HPI engine damper makes its use inside the engine bay. That’s why a 5 speed PPG Dogbox Gearbox paired with OS GIKEN clutch is chosen for this application. The electronic gadgets which are fitted to the car are Greddy Profec B, HKS Electronic Split Torque controller and HKS Twin Power DLI. The master mind behind the engine management is done by HKS FCON V Pro.

The interior of the GTR are kept clean and standard. The only changes to the interior are the Nismo carbon fibre trim dials and a Pivot tachometer located at the center of the dashboard. A Sony CD player head unit is in favor inside the GTR, but who needs music when you have a thunder running down the straight pipe each time you turn on the engine key.

Underneath the mud guards are a stock Nissan GTR 17 inch alloy wheels wrapped with Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag tyres. The front and the rear tyres size are 275/40R17. Behind the stock wheels are the upgraded Brembo brakes which are essential to keep the car to a halt as fast as it can go forward.

If you reach at this point of the article, you might be wondering how much Horsepower does this Sleeper Looking Godzilla cranks out. Well we reckon this GTR can manage to slice the big 700horsepower range with the amount of performance parts being done to the car. And a similarly tuned GTR with a twin turbo T67 setup was able to reach the 800horsepower range. Well we cannot see why this GTR can’t do the same.

The answer to the above question will still be hovering inside our minds until this GTR is fully tuned and Dyno’d. But even though the Godzilla is not properly tuned yet, it’s best to keep a distance away from this car if you know what I mean. This is the ultimate sleeper! Give way to the Godzilla!!

GTR is no joke and no sleeper, ever heard of the story of a bluehippo? hahaha. GTR is GTR! hehe. I'd definitely go the same route as the owner, no good reason to alter the-already-sexy-looks-off-factory exterior other than aerodynamics. And im no surprised if cars modded to this extent are collecting dust in garage, its the price u pay for, for going this far!

As always Mr.Carzine, great coverage!!! keep up

I think it's pretty bemusing to tag an GTR as a 'sleeper' as there are powerful even from factory.
Regardless, amazing powerplant! 2.7 litre monster... put a smile on anyone's face having 700+hp on your right foot!

Any car can beat this GTR "Sleeper"? Unless you have 700hp or 800hp, hehehe....
Subaru? LEXUS? AUDI? Anyone? Well, i think this GTR is the King of the Power in Brunei unless we c another car with this great HP :-)
