25 July was the official launching of the new Nissan GTR R35 SpecII which is an improvement over the first model and minor changes have been made to make the GTR better and also GTR will have full technical support and warranty from Boustead throught is NHPC. B.Z.O.C.A was invited to the launching of the GTR and all the Z gathered in front of the boustead showroom.

Arrival of the VVIP for the launching of the GTR R35 Spec II.

Lim Jin Lee the executive manager of boustead gace a welcoming speech and explains the GTR's history and also give a few details of the new GTR R35.

The moment everyone has been waiting for the emergence of the GTR R35 SpecII, BZOCA, the invites and also the press will now have a closer look at the GTR.
The SpecII is using a VR38DETT engine which is a 3.8Liter Twin Turbo V6 engine which produces 485hp. The V6 is lighter and more compact to ensure better weight distribution of the car and offers more power and torque especially when its is combined with the GR6 transmission. The GTR engines is low emission and good consumption for a high performance car. Some of the engine parts uses magnesium for furthur weight reduction. The engine should also be serviced by a certified oil to protect the plasma bore from excessive wear and tear.
The dual-clutch GR6 gearbox which is as good or even better the the previous 6MT ATTESA-TS Pro which are used on previos GTR models. The gearbox also comes with 1.5way lsd to ensure traction on high speed run. Its also one of the fastest gerabox where it changes gears in just 0.2sec which is almost an instant response.

The Brakes are built to Nissan specifications by Brembo which is a 15" Brembo floating disc rotor, 6-Pot Caliper in the front and 4-Pot in the rear and in the SpecII GTR the brakes are rebadged to Nissan and fits in the 20" light alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE070 high performance, run flat 255/40R20 in front and 285/35R20 in the Rear.

NHPC is officially open and Mr.Lim Jin Lee gave a detailed explaination on what the NHPC is all about and also the GTR parts and merchandise are also showcased at the NHPC which caters to Nissan's high performance vehicle such as the GTR and aslo the 350-370Z.

A new GTR owner was also given a GTR racing glove.

As mentioned in the previous post NHPC is now equipped with alignment equipements and Hi Tech tools to maintain the GTR to make sure thats the GTR is always in its best shape everytime its out of the NHPC. The mechanics are well trained and was sent to Japan to ensure the GTR is in good working order. This is because the GTR is a high performance and Hi-Tech machine.

A new GTR owner is being briefed on the GTR functions and gadgets such as the multi display and the characteristics of the GTR when driving.

Tomorrow Sunday, 26th July 2009, NHPC will be open to public and will be showcasing previous GTR models to show the GTR's History

GTR V-spec is a nice car if all you want is exclusivity. This is the same case with the Mugen RR (the normal RR, not the advanced concept).

Albeit all the performance accessories under its hood, IMO the normal GTR is a somewhat better all-rounder and is much less expensive than the V-spec version. Not sure about the price here tho, but in UK you could actually buy 2 GTR's for the price of a V-spec.

The only parts that are special to the V-spec (and according to Nissan, is where most of your money go to) is its super expensive carbon ceramic brakes which according to reviews cooked after 3 laps on the 'Ring', front splitter with carbon ducts, carbon rear wing, more carbon to replace the rear seats and a steering mounted boost button.

Most of the parts on the V-spec (e.g manually adjustable carbon Recaro seats, a new diffuser and titanium-coated exhaust, black forged Rays wheels, performance-orientated rubber and fixed-rate suspension) are available for GTR thru NISMO.

All the above still doesn't justify the hefty cost for a V-spec but to each his own. If you've the money to spare and love exclusivity, go ahead and get a V-spec for the ultimate bragging right. A normal joe like me (if i ever struck lottery, that is) would be just as happy with a GTR.

    Just my 2 cents :)

From what i know, maintenance is going to be a pain in the a** since Nissan has decided not to release it's technical know how on the GTR to outside parties aside authorized ones (such as NHPC and maybe some major aftermarket companies for purpose of parts development) to protect its intellectual property.

That could mean OEM parts will only be available thru dealers which translates into a hefty price tag on top of the already expensive selling price of the car itself. But my assumption is, if you could afford a B$150k car, i'm sure you can also afford the cost that comes with maintaining it.

Can't imagine what's the cost will be like in neighbouring M'sia since the GTR will cost you a whopping rm700k a pop....that's Porsche Cayman territory mind you....

Yea... I also would like to know the maintenance and running cost of the the R35 before I commit to buy.

Yes, I know that the price of R35 is cheap compare to the other super car but if the cost of maintaining it is more than let say a porsche, then i don't see the point.

Most ppl say that if you can afford to buy the car then you should be able to afford to maintain the car. Well, not everyone, probably only some.

Ah the GTR SpecV, that's a whole different GTR if you ask me..The price i heard for that car is around $200K++++..I know it is insane but it is only for the Hardcore GTR fans. There's currently one running in Brunei.

To put it this way, supercars are meant to be expensive and costly to maintain especially the likes of BMWs, Porsches and not to mention the Ferrari's and lamborghinis..But Im sure that the GTR will be little bit cheaper to maintain than the above exotic supercars from Europe.

Nevertheless we are talking about GTR here, its a perfectly built modern supercar that is already a legend. Im sure you can't deny the Fun & Joy the GTR has to offer with its endless power combines with its superb handling that could even make a supercar double its price tag cry. To those who are lucky enough to get their hands on the GTR, We are forever Respect you..

Well to know more on the maintenance price issue of the GTR in Boustead, why not kindly ask the salesperson there..Im sure they will gladly be of a help.

    Cheers,

Perhaps its not too late for me to say congrats to the owner of the new Godzilla :)

Yeah, for a mere mortal like myself I can only dream about of owning such a supercar. Heck I can't even buy a used R33 GTR, let alone an R35 GTR with its high price tag and prohibitive running costs but my so-called 90's sports car will do me just fine indeed hehehe

I do feel proud of us Bruneians coz there are quite a number of GTRs running around in our country :)

Long live the JDM machines ;)
