"Best Cars": three Audi models among winners

• Another remarkably successful year in ams reader poll

• Audi A4, A6 and Q5 win their respective categories

• Audi A3, A8 and R8 capture second places


Ingolstadt/Stuttgart – Audi has succeeded in repeating its successes of recent years in the "Best Cars" reader poll sponsored by the magazine "auto motor und sport" (ams). The readers of ams voted Audi models the best cars in three separate categories: the Audi A4, Audi A6 and the recently launched Audi Q5 were all among readers' favorites. Rounding off an outstanding set of results, the Audi A3, A8 and R8 each secured second place in their respective categories. The awards were presented today in Stuttgart's Alte Reithalle.


With three outright wins to its name, Audi is again one of the most successful brands. The Audi A4 repeated last year's triumph in the "Midsize" category. Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, who attended the ceremony to accept the award for Audi's volume model, remarked: "The A4 has brought full-size virtues into the midsize category with its innovative technology, stunning design and superior feel and quality."


It is becoming a regular feature of the ams reader poll for the Audi A6 to emerge on top in the "Upmarket Midsize" category. The sporty business sedan asserted its superiority over competitor models for the fifth time in a row. "Our A6 is a sporty but fuel-efficient option. And that is what customers in this segment ultimately want," commented Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG, at today's presentation in Stuttgart.


The new Audi Q5 captured top spot in the "Off Road Vehicle" category at its very first attempt. The various accolades already captured by this newcomer include the coveted design awards sponsored by ams and Auto Bild, and the "Golden Steering Wheel" voted on by readers of Bild am Sonntag. At the awards ceremony Michael Dick, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG, emphasized: "The Q5 shows that lifestyle all-rounders are just as much in demand as ever. Particularly when they are as expressive, powerful and efficient as this one. This car still has immense potential."


The successful showing in the ams reader poll was rounded off by second places for the Audi A3 in the "Lower Midsize" category, the Audi A8 in the "Luxury" category and the Audi R8 in "Sports Cars".


This was the 33rd auto motor und sport reader poll, with more than 92,000 of the magazine's readers casting their vote.

Here are the key features of the new Audi A3

• New sporty exterior styling:

It also comes with a new LED Daytime running lights which is the same feature as the Audi R8 and the new Audi A4.

-The attractive rear design gives the A3 Sportback its name. It combines the practical aspects of an Avant with the sleek lines of a sports model, and a distinctive set of LED fibre-optic tail-lights.

• The Technology

-200hp 2.0TFSi engine- Revolutionary TFSI engines use direct injection technology to deliver outstanding performance, lower CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy. Dependent on acceleration, they will either distribute maximum power when needed or use less fuel to reduce emissions.

-S tronic transmission- Innovative S tronic transmission is a significant new option for the A3 range. Pioneered in motor sport, adapted for the road, it’s specifically designed to make ultra-fast, seamless gear changes without disrupting the power flow.

-Dynamic suspension- An aluminium subframe, McPherson strut suspension at the front and innovative four-link suspension at the rear offer a supremely comfortable ride, which can be enhanced with optional Audi magnetic ride.

• Safety Features

-Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)-The A3's ESP provides an intelligent, swift response to difficult driving situations. The system is capable of braking individual wheels to the limits of their grip, whilst simultaneously adjusting the engine management settings, to ensure safe braking whatever the conditions.

-SIDEGUARD®-In the event of a side impact, side airbags will activate, preventing occupant injury. The head-level airbag covers the entire front and rear side-window including the A-post area.

-Anti Slip Regulation (ASR)-ASR cuts the power to any wheel that has lost traction, so the A3 Sportback continues to accelerate safely while keeping you on the road.

Porsche is stepping up the game by updating their secret weapon the Porsche GT3. This is the official photos of the 2010 Porsche GT3. Looking sexy as always; the new GT3 comes with more revise upgrades such as the motor and the new aerodynamic design. The new GT3 features a new Bi Xenon headlights, fresh design rear LED taillights and an adjustable front spoiler that can be adjusted inside the cockpit. The rear spoiler is also redesigned from the previous GT3. The GT3 comes with a 4.0Liter Flat six engine that produces 435hp. Performance wise, 0-100km/h in 4.1seconds and top speed of 193mph. Carbon ceramic brakes were fitted for GT3 as well as a new stability management system that allows setting for both stability and traction controls. The new Porsche GT3 will be reveal at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

Here I present to you two amazing Nissan Silvia’s, a Nissan Silvia S14 and Nissan Silvia S15. With a Total horsepower of near1100hp on both cars, this is surely one of the amazing duos in the street of Brunei Darussalam. Even though both of the cars are different in age, this red speedsters share the same vital component; The SR20DET engine. The SR20DET engine is popular amongst Nissan enthusiast due to the low to midrange power band that is well suited for Drifting and Drag racing. With a lot of tuner companies supporting the SR20DET engine with performance parts, no wonder you see a lot of high powered Nissan Silvias around. Both of the Silvias were occasionally built for drag racing proposes.


Let’s take a close look on the Nissan Silvia S14 first. This 1994 Nissan Silvia Qs better known as S14 has been upgraded with large amount of aftermarket parts ranging from the exterior, interior as well as the engine department. Under the hood is a full fledged big turbo set up. The owner of this ride is not joking when it comes to serious power modifications. The first thing you might notice is the large turbine kit sitting comfortable next to the engine. The turbo is a T3/T4 Turbo fitted with a custom inlet plenum ended with a Nissan Q45 Throttle body.

The engine has been rebuilt with Tomei camshafts, solid lifter of n14 SR20 Pulsar, Trust rocker arm stopper and a 1.2mm metal head gasket. The owner also fitted z32 airflow, Greddy oil cooler, Sard oil catch tank, Aluminium racing radiator, HKS Twin Power and HKS super sequential blow of valve. Delivering fuel to high turbocharged engine is done by Nismo 280 lph fuel pump and 660cc injectors. The exhaust fitted to the S14 is a JIC Bullet titanium exhaust. The engine modification is not complete with a proper engine management. For this S14, an Apexi Power FC with launch control is controls all the engine management required to run this highly modded engine smoothly. With all the engine modification, this Silvia rated a staggering 550hp.


The exterior of the car is beautifully upgraded with eye catching JDM parts such as the M Sport full body kit which includes front bumper, vented fender, side skirts and rear bumper. The front bumper’s lower grill is wide enough to show the large front mounted intercooler. Notice the Billion racing air duct on the side of the intercooler piping. Red color body paint with black hood is the color scheme for this ride. Not to mention the 18inch Dark gunmetal Work Emotion Cr Kai wheels size 18x8.5 for the fronts with 235/40 tyres and 18x10 for the rears with 265/35 tyres to complement the overall color scheme of the ride.


Behind the wheels is an R33 calipers with endless pads and Apexi cross drill rotor. Big brake upgrades are surely important to have once you have a big engine upgrades. Finish off the look with a racing style Race Craft side mirrors. The car has been dropped to a nice aggressive stance thanks to HKS Hipermax II coilover and accompanies with a Cusco strut bar for better handling in corners.



Inside the car are a set of JDM Bride seats, Nardi Steering wheel and a Cusco half roll rage for added safety and rigidity. This car is surely one of the Top S14 in Brunei.


Now let us take a tour on the other half. It is the later brother of the previous Nissan Qs, the Nissan S15. With the same color scheme as the Qs, it is make both of them look like blood brothers. This S15 comes with serious fire power under the hood too.

A Greddy t67-25G 8cm Turbo kit was in favor for this high blown turbo engine setup. The SR20 engine has been dubbed with a set of HKS camshafts, HKS valve springs, Trust rocker arm stopper, Jun Cam Sprocket, solid lifter of N14 SR20 Pulsar, HKS wastegate and HKS 1.2mm metal head gasket to handle the high pressure boost coming from the big turbine. Filtering the air intake is done by HKS air cleaner. An HKS Hi Power Exhaust with full piping was the choice for the S15. The exhaust manifold and the front pipe is custom made for the S15.

The engine uses an SR20 Na throttle body, a Z32 airflow meter, Greddy oil cooler and Cusco oil catch tank. A Greddy Aluminium radiator keeps the cooling system pressurized and exhaust is directed through a Trust titanium exhaust. An HKS 280 lph R34 GTR fuel pump and Power Enterprise 850cc injectors is used to feed the thirsty engine. Apexi Power FC is fitted and fine tuned the complex air fuel ratio of the SR20DET. This S15 has been tuned by Maztech from Australia. Now the SR20DET is rated 545hp on 1.5bar boost. Apexi AVCR Boost controller was fitted to control the turbo boost. A Bee-R Rev limited was amongst of electronic gadgetry found inside the car.


With a 550hp engine under the hood, a stock transmission seriously won’t cut it. That’s why the 5 speed manual transmission of the S15 has been reinforced with HKS GD Clutch Pro Twin Plate. A KAAZ 1.5 way LSD and Cs Short shifter were also added on the modification list.

HKS Hipermax II coilovers is fitted to the car. The coilovers provides adjustable ride height which is then adjusted to suit the owner preference. A Cusco carbon fibre strut bar is also fitted in the engine bay for better rigidity and cornering performance. The owner fitted an Ikeya Formula Tension rod and Ikeya Formula rear camber kit to the S15. The owner opted a full Vertex Lang body kit for his ride which consists of the front bumper, vented front fender, side skirts, Vertex ductail spoiler and rear bumper. An HKS front mounted Type S intercooler is obviously noticeable due to the large front bumper. A carbon fibre hood was fitted to replace the heavy standard hood. Underneath the fenders is a 18inch JDM Volk racing GTC wheels size 18x8 with 235/40 Falken 411 ST615 tyres for the fronts and 18x9 with 265/35 Falken 411 ST615 tyres for the rears. The S15 uses a Project Mu rotors and endless brake pads.


Inside the car, you will see a set of Bride bucket seat with a Trust seatbelt harness as well as Nardi Steering wheel. The slippery stock pedals were also replaced by a Project Mu racing pedals. A few gauges such as Apexi RSM, Autometer A/F meter, APEXI Ext .Temp EL-II, APEXI Fuel Press EL-II, APEXI Fuel Press EL-II, APEXI Boost Meter EL-II and APEXI Oil Press Meter EL were also fitted to monitor the engine performance.

Both of the Silvias have been built to finesse that most of us would ever dream of building. These show the hard work and dedication and most of all the passion in upgrading their rides to the extreme. Brunei Carzine would like to thank both of the owners of these extremely awesome machines. This is a 2010 Porsche GT3RS teaser commercial. It is so hilarious especially when the driver push the new Porsche over the limit, check out the passengers facial expression. The new Porsche GT3RS looks promising as always.

Here are some of the spy photos of the new BMW 760Li. This 7 series is believed to be using a twin turbocharged V12 engine. Talk about serious power under the hood. Hold your horses; this is not what you might think of, The BMW M7. This is by far near to what M7 should be but sadly it is not. The 760Li is the long wheel base version of the new 7 series and it features four square pipes, aggressive front end and black wheels. The sticker covered emblem on the side shows a V12 badge. We can't wait to see the real specs on this 7 series as it will be appearing on Shanghai Motor Show this April.

German megastar sports car company, Porsche is currently preparing the sportier version of the new Cayman. It is the Porsche Cayman Clubsport. According to sources, the Clubsport is believed to be lighter by 100kg off the kerb weight. Most of the heavy components has been removed and replaced with lighter materials. This includes stripped out interior, lightweight body panels and forged alloy wheels.

The main changes to the Clubsport is the lightweight body, new bumper design and fixed rear spoiler but the engine still remains standard. The new Cayman Clubsport is using the new 320bhp 3.4 litre flat six with six speed manual transmission and Limited slip differential comes as standard. Good thing about the new Cayman Clubsport, the buyer can choose between a standard interior or flat out race spec trim which includes six point harness, roll cage and fire extinguisher. The new Cayman Clubsport will be available in October 2009.

Volkswagen took the 2009 Dakar Rally by storm placing 1st and 2nd position. Dakar Rally is one of the most challenging rally events in the world. Volkswagen managed to take the top spot using their clean diesel powered Race Touareg TDI's. The race cars are driven by German duo Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz taking the 1st position while their team mates Mark Miller and Ralph Pitchford finished the rally in 2nd place. Both of the VW Race Touareg 2 TDI's are powered by a five cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 280hp and approximately 440lb.ft of torque. This rally prototype was designed and engineered to overcome the challenges of the Dakar Rally.

Do you remember the super car that Jaguar produced back in 1992, The Jaguar XJ220. The previous legend was able to blast the tarmac by 350kmph back in the days. Now Jaguar is trying to make a new XJ220 for the next major International motor show in the next 18 months. By looking at the concept design, the new XJ220 is drop dead gorgeous. Its more than super car, its a work of art right there. There's not much details for this new super car yet. This is for sure, the nearest competitor to the Audi R8.

Chrome Mercedes SLRs are a hit in Japan. But in UAE, gold is the new black. Here is probably the first gold mirror finish Mercedes Benz C63 AMG. This is one unique color. According to sources, there are no confirmation whether this car is painted or wrap with gold sticker. What ever the color of the C63 AMG maybe, It is still a murderer wearing a tuxedo.
