Ingolstadt – Despite the economic crisis, the Audi Group posted a clearly positive operating profit in the first quarter of 2009. From January through March of the current year, the Audi brand grew its market share in Western Europe to
4.6 percent (2008: 4.1 percent), putting it at the top of the premium segment.
Despite the difficult overall economic environment with falling sales worldwide, the Audi Group made a successful start to the year in several markets and maintained its profitability in the first three months with a positive operating profit. The Group generated revenue of €6.7 billion from January through March (2008: €8.3 billion), 19.2 percent less than in the previous year. Operating profit in this period totaled €363 million
(2008: €514 million), a downturn of 29.4 percent. ”The first quarter developed much as we expected and provides us with a solid basis for reaching our target for 2009, namely of posting a significantly positive result,” explained Axel Strotbek, Member of the Board of Management for Finance and Organization at AUDI AG.
Audi is continuing its model initiative in the current year with models such as the A5 Cabriolet, the A4 allroad quattro and the A5 Sportback. The market share figures recently published by the European carmakers’ association ACEA for the months January through March confirm just how successful the brand with the four rings is. According to these figures, Audi has taken the top spot in the premium segment in Western Europe with a market share of 4.6 percent (2008: 4.1 percent), clearly ahead of its competitors. 149,650 new Audi cars were registered in the Western European region in the first quarter,
4.6 percent fewer than in the prior-year period. Audi thus developed significantly better than its core competitors and the overall market, the latter slumping by 16.3 percent in the months January through March.
“This success shows that we have the right products on the market and ones that are popular with customers. We are therefore continuing our model initiative at unabated speed in 2009 and investing around €2 billion in new, innovative products and efficient engines,” added Strotbek. The latest example is the A4 2.0 TDIe with 136 hp which will be in dealers’ showrooms at the start of June: With an average fuel consumption of 4.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (51.13 US mpg) and CO2 emissions of 119 grams per kilometer, this Audi is currently the most efficient midsize model on the market.

Following the launch of the new generation supercar, the Nissan GT-R, at Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007, Zele International Limited has used its experience and knowledge from research and development on the road and track, to create the ultimate production car. To optimize the power-to-weight ratio, power delivery and handling, Zele International modified the GT-R’s engine, engine management system, suspension and aerodynamics.
ZELE R35 GT-R Complete Edition’s brain, the “FZ-ROM Type 3 ECU” increases engine power output to 550ps.
Titanium is used extensively in the exhaust system, and offers the benefits of weight saving, heat proofing and an exciting exhaust note.
Oil temperature management is also important to optimize the performance and as such, a rear differential oil cooler is fitted.
All of these modifications have improved the standard GT-R’s weak points and thus enhance the overall performance.
In order to optimize the GT-R’s power-to-weight ratio, Zele International Limited makes extensive use of carbon fiber. Dry carbon fiber is used for the roof, the front bumper, the rear spoiler and the side rear view mirrors. Further to this carbon fiber is used for front lip spoiler, side skirts, NACA hood air ducts, rear under spoiler and so on.
To optimize the handling for the ZELE R35 GT-R Complete Edition, Zele International Limited developed a height adjustable (HA) Conversion Kit that gives added features to the GT-R’s standard Bilstein shock absorbers. Using the Zele HA Conversion Kit, it’s possible to adjust the vehicle ride height as desired while retaining the standard Bilstein Damptronic System electronically adjustable damper functionality.
To enhance the GT-R’s considerable stopping power, Zele Sports Brake Pads are fitted to the standard Brembo aluminum brake calipers.

The new striking super sports car in SUV format
There is only a little connection left between the GEMBALLA TORNADO 750 GTS and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. At the most, the Porsche SUV is the master model for the latest development by the automobile manufacturer from Leonberg near Stuttgart. Already at first glance, the targeted goal of the technicians at GEMBALLA Automobiltechnik GmbH & Co. KG can be clearly defined: away from the SUV and more to an uncompromising sports car. The reason for the performed metamorphosis was the large amount of requests for a high performance sports car with the dimensions and the spacious interior of an SUV. 25 years of experience with innovative products based on Porsche sports cars contributed to the development of this new automobile. The unique signature of owner Uwe Gemballa is also clearly visible with the TORNADO 750 GTS: 750 hp and a vehicle weight reduced by 250 kg are only two unique selling points of this superb automobile. Once again, the company confirms its expertise when it comes to striking design and an especially powerful engine technology.
Striking design for highest requirements
In order to meet the sports car´s increased requirements in terms of light construction and torsional stiffness, Uwe Gemballa´s team optimised nearly the entire auto body. For this reason, the ultra-strength and especially light material carbon is mainly used. A front apron extended by 60 millimetres with integrated aero lip generates more downthrust at the front axle and in connection with the also extended rear section it renders the typical elongated sports car look. Extensive air inlets suck in additional fresh air for the engine, oil- and air intercooler; and moreover, an air duct system even brings the air to the front brakes. On the other hand, the engine heat is effectively diverted by air ducts in the also newly designed bonnet. The special highlight of the bonnet is its fusion with the front wings and the new, converse opening mechanism. Compared to the serial Cayenne, the one-part bonnet-wing-unit now opens forward and therefore allows a better access to the engine.
The outstanding eye-catchers of the TORNADO flanks are the body extensions which are fitted all the way from the front to the rear. They make space for the extremely broad 12-inch rims and in connection with the new side skirts they render a dynamic look.
The aerodynamics specialists also extensively optimised the rear section. The rear skirt has been extended by 40 millimetres and for additional downthrust, a race diffuser has been added. A rear spoiler with carbon flaps perfects the aerodynamic overall package.
When designing the body kit, GEMBALLA does not leave any doubt that the TORNAGO 750 GTS is a full-blooded sports car. In order to emphasise this claim, GEMBALLA adds designer characteristics which are typical for sports cars: Round double tail lights and
four end pipes of the high performance exhaust system which have been integrated in the rear skirt, confirm the powerful appearance.
Extensive modifications at the driving gear render impressive results
On the one hand, the combination of the sport exhaust system, the sport catalysers and the optimised racing header render the sporty and earthy sound of the V8. On the other hand this is a substantial part of the profound modifications at the serial power engine of the Cayenne Turbo. But the main feature of the engine makeover is the increase of the cubic capacity up to five litres. Here, the GEMBALLA engine experts fitted fortified forged pistons, special connecting rods and racing turbochargers. An air intercooler with a 90 percent larger cooling area supplies enough cold air. All these components are precisely adjusted to each other with the help of new engine electronics maps.
The result: with a top performance of 750 hp / 552 kW at 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 1,050 Nm at 3200 rpm, the GEMBALLA engine meets the wishes of its ambitious customers from motor sports and also renders excellent performance values. The 4WD automobile accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in only 4.3 seconds and with a maximum velocity of over 300 km/h, the GEMBALLA TORNADO 750 GTS is significantly more powerful than its serial counterpart.
Running gear and wheels for adequate grip and agile handling
The TORNADO was equipped with an adjustable coilover kit which has been especially adjusted to the enormous performance potential. This allows lowering the car by up to 70 millimetres and therefore permits a variable adjustment of the setup to every individual driver and scope of use.
The right grip is provided by the tailor-made wheel-tyre combination for the GEMBALLA TORNADO 750 GTS: The multi-part, especially light GT SPORT forged rims are available in 12Jx22 with tyres measuring 335/25 Z 22.
By manufacturing the wheels in forged technology, they are extremely light. Moreover, the weight of the unsprung masses is reduced which significantly improves the handling as well as acceleration and braking response.
The high-performance braking system with the punched and slit XXL discs guarantees optimal deceleration values. In order to provide the perfect gas pedal response, the GEMBALLA technicians used 6-piston brake callipers with 420mm discs at the front axle and 4-piston brake callipers with 380mm discs at the rear axle.
4-seater with state of the art interior
As usual, GEMBALLA builds the interior in an unsurpassable quality and in an innovative design. The four single sports seats which offer all passengers a unique seating experience when driving winding roads are another highlight. The hand-holds which are embedded in the rear centre console provide further support.
The new front centre console with the lifted gearbox and the Data Control System renders a real cockpit feeling. Ingolstadt – In the course of the further development of the Audi R8 LMS, an ultimate endurance test is on the agenda for the new GT3 sports car of AUDI AG at the end of May: On May 23/24, Teams ABT Sportsline and Phoenix Racing, with "factory" support by Audi, will field a total of four vehicles in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
"The 24 Hours is not only one of the biggest motorsport events in Germany," says Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. "The Nürburgring-Nordschleife is considered one of the world’s toughest and most demanding race tracks. Similar to Sebring for the sports prototypes, it is superbly suited for revealing the final improvement potential of any new race car. This is exactly what we’re planning to do at the 24-hour race before delivering the R8 LMS to customers, starting this fall."
The Audi R8 LMS delivering some 500 hp has so far completed two "test" races as part of the BFGoodrich Endurance Championship on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and already clinched a podium result in the process. Another "test" race is planned for May 2. On that day, the 14 drivers scheduled to contest the 24-hour race will be at the wheel of the four vehicles.
Teams ABT Sportsline and Phoenix Racing managed to form high-caliber driver squads consisting of five current Audi "factory" drivers, four DTM Champions, four Le Mans winners and five drivers who have won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring at least once. All 14 drivers are regarded as outstanding endurance racers who are intimately familiar with the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
They include the reigning DTM Champion Timo Scheider, who – together with his DTM teammate Mattias Ekström and three-time Le Mans winner Marco Werner – will compete for Team ABT Sportsline. On the occasion of the Audi brand’s 100th anniversary, their Audi R8 LMS will contest the event as car number 100. The second ABT Sportsline R8 will be driven by Christian Abt, Jean-François Hemroulle, Pierre Kaffer and Lucas Luhr.
Marc Basseng, Mike Rockenfeller and Frank Stippler will drive one of the two cars of Team Phoenix Racing. With the multiple Le Mans winners Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Hans-Joachim Stuck as well as Marcel Fässler at the wheel, the second R8 LMS fielded by Phoenix Racing has a particularly prominent cockpit crew.
With three overall victories under his belt so far, Hans-Joachim Stuck, who has been the Motorsport Representative of the Volkswagen Group since January 2008, is one of most successful drivers of the 24-hour race. Lucas Luhr, Emanuele Pirro, Timo Scheider and Mike Rockenfeller have entered their names on the winners’ list of the endurance classic as well.
Also Team Phoenix Racing has already won the Nürburgring 24 hours. It triumphed at its home race in the Eifel region in 2003. The best result (second place) achieved by ABT Sportsline so far dates back to 2003 as well.
The 37th edition of the ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race will start on Saturday, May 23, at 4 p.m. (local time). Practice sessions will be held on Thursday and Friday. The sports channel DSF will air extensive live coverage from the Nürburgring.

The IS-F Evolution is set to be limited with only 500 units to be sold where most of it will be available for the Japanese market. The price tag for this carbon monster is announced at US$250,000.00. More on this evolution as soon as it hits Nurburgring this year.

Speaking at Auto Shanghai 2009, Jaguar Cars Managing Director, Mike O'Driscoll confirmed that:
- The all-new XJ will go on sale at the end of 2009 - but will officially be revealed on July 9th in London.
- The all-new XJ is the first car to feature the next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture.
- All of Jaguar's new ultra-efficient Gen III petrol and diesel engines will be available in the new XJ, including the already acclaimed V6 diesel and 510 bhp supercharged V8.
- There will be a choice of standard- or long wheelbase models.
- The all-new XJ will introduce the highest standards of personal luxury and specification, including a panoramic glass roof.

On Thursday, 16th April 2009 Qlap Custom Bikes officially launch the 1st custom bike show and was officiated by the guest of honour, Dato Paduka Haji Hamdillah bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Deputy Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Chairman of the Brunei Tourism Board. The venue of the custom bike show is at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The bike show is open to public from Thursday 16th April until Sunday 19th April. QCB main objective of the bike show was to showcase local talents in automotive engineering designs.
Here's a brief intro of QCB. QCB (Qlap Custom Bikes) was established in September 2007 and the founder of the QCB is Mohd Nizam bin Hj Darosman. QCB consists of 7 bike builders and 11 crew. Their 1st custom bike creations was once a Kawasaki Vulcan 500cc bike which was then strip and reworked from scratch. Their inspiration for this built was from a custom bike made by Australian designer. The first project was completed in February 2008. Hence their first custom bike was called the Predator. Now QCB has a total of 5 more custom bikes under their steed.
The quality built of each custom bike is pretty good. All of the bikes received attention to detail when it comes to the built. According to QCB, the custom bikes were built according to the procedure under ISO (International Standard Organisation) technolgy and quality control to ensure better quality and safety in fabricating the bikes. This is a great achievement for Us Bruneian on what our locals can do with their talents and this could also be an inspiration for the younger generation who want to become a fabricator/designer just like them.
The exhibition consists of quizzes and competitions for patron to take part in the 3 days event. Other booth displays comprises of QCB merchandise store, Pit'Stop, New Motors Sdn Bhd, Brunei Tourism Board and a Wild pet booth ( For those who are into reptiles would love this!). The new changes to the exterior of the suv are the updated head lamps now comes exclusively with LED daytime running lights, air intake mounted LED turn signals and LED rear taillights, adaptive lighting system, slightly updated front bumper which include new single fame grille and a new set of body colors to choose from. New colors includes Ibis White, Graphite Gray, metallic, Teak Brown, metallic, and Orca Black, metallic.
Inside the car, the changes for the new Q7 include a new instrument cluster, new trim with more chrome accents as well as a new trim piece for the passenger side dashboard.The seatbacks in the second row are divided into three fold-down sections to provide a level cargo floor. This new changes increases the luggage space from a volume of 775 liters (27.37 cubic feet) to 2,035 liters (71.87 cubic feet).
The engine line up available for the New Q7 are four diesels and two petrol engines. For the diesel there is a 3.0 Litre TDI 240bhp and 550 Nm of torque with mileage economy of 9.1L/100km. A cleaner version of the diesel 3.0 TDI is also available. This engine consume 8.9L/100km. The engine features an advanced common rail injection system, high performance exhaust and a DeNOx catalytic converter. The DeNOx catalytic converter reduces the remaining nitrogen oxides. After the DeNOx catalytic converter, a pump injects an additive named AdBlue into the hot exhaust flow, where this solution decomposes into ammonia, which splits the nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water. Audi partners replenish the additive during regular maintenance servicing.
Another diesel engine available is the 4.2-liter V8 TDI. According to Audi, the engine is more powerful and more fuel economy as the same time. The fuel economy improves from 11.1L/100 km to 9.9L/100 km. Engine power rated 340bhp with a 760Nm of torque. The top range for the Q7 is the V12 TDI engine that boasts 500bhp and a staggering 1000Nm of torque. Enough torque to propel the SUV from 0-100km/h in 5.5seconds. The engine consume 11.3L/100km.
As for the pertrol engines,It includes a 3.6-liter FSI V6 with 280bhp and 360 Nm of torque and a 4.2-liter FSI V8 that is rated 350bhp and 440 Nm of torque.

For the first time, there is an AMG Sports package for the 2009 Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the CL-Class. With revamped AMG bodystyling, attractive 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and special interior details available for both top Mercedes-Benz models. The AMG Sports package is now available for five Mercedes model types.
New AMG bodystyling, including a front apron with large air intakes, enhances the visual impact of the S-Class and the CL-Class. The rear apron with a striking black insert and integrated, rectangular tailpipe trim in polished stainless steel is also eye-catching. AMG side sill panels round off the AMG bodystyling.
A 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels with a five-spoke design and wide-base 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear) tyres fill the wheel arches perfectly and provide optimum contact with the road. 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels are available as an option in a twin-spoke design with 255/35 and 275/35 tyres. Mounted on the front axle there are perforated brake discs and silver-painted brake callipers featuring Mercedes-Benz lettering; the V6 models have a more generously proportioned braking system.
The AMGSports package is available for all S-Class models with a short or long wheelbase, as well as for the CL 500 and CL 500 4MATIC. It costs between 5831 and 7973 euros (including 19% VAT); the market launch commences in June 2009. In addition to the S-Class and CL-Class, the new E-Class Saloon, the new E-Class Coupé and the C-Class can be equipped with the AMGSports package.

Impressive debut for Audi R8 LMS
ADAC GT Masters: Although the Audi R8 LMS was reassessed and subsequently reclassified by the FIA governing body immediately before its first race in the ADAC GT Masters, and had to compete with less power, more weight, a narrower rear wing and increased ride-height as a result, the new GT3 sports car from AUDI AG made a strong impression on its debut at Oschersleben. In the first race three of the four competing R8 LMS finished in the points. Cesar Campanico and Nicolas Armindo (Team Rosberg), who started from the second row, even led the race before dropping back following a Stop-and-Go penalty awarded due to a mistake during the mandatory pit stop. Christian Abt (Team Abt Sportsline) was the star of the second race on Easter Monday: The former Audi factory driver fought through the field from tenth to third in his Audi R8 LMS. However, team mate Shane Williams gave away the podium finish with a trip into the gravel bed just before the end of the race. The most successful R8 duo was Michael Outzen and Henri Moser (Phoenix Racing) with fourth and fifth positions.
DTM tests at Dijon-Prenois
DTM: The countdown for the 2009 DTM starts with the year’s first official DTM tests. From Tuesday to Thursday (April 14 to 16) the Audi Sport Teams Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg test on the French race track at Dijon-Prenois on which a DTM race is held for the first time this year. The 2009 Audi A4 DTM ("R14 plus") meets the latest C-Class from Mercedes-Benz for the first time. Audi aims to be the first automobile manufacturer this year to win Europe’s most popular touring car racing series for the third time in succession. Additional official test days are held between April 27 and 30 at the Hockenheimring before the 2009 season also starts at Hockenheim on May 17.
DTM presentation in Düsseldorf
DTM: The DTM presentation is held this coming Sunday in the sports city Düsseldorf for the fourth time in succession. Following a press conference starting at 11.00 a.m. in the "Meilenwerk" for accredited media representatives, in which Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich and his nine factory drivers also participate, the public events starts at 1.00 p.m. on the Königsallee. Several Audi A4 DTM cars and also an Audi R8 LMS will be in action on the temporary closed track in the heart of Düsseldorf. Approximately 200,000 spectators were on the "Kö" last year.
Further tests around the Nordschleife
VLN: This coming Saturday Team Phoenix Racing completes another event, within the framework of the BFGoodrich Endurance Championship on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, with the endurance version of the Audi R8 LMS. At the wheel this time are Christian Abt, Marc Basseng and Frank Stippler. The latest FIA balance of performance is valid also for this race.

For three consecutive days from Friday,10.4.09 until Sunday,12.04.09, Mukim Seria Consultative Council with the cooperation of the Belait District Office and the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Boards organized a fund raising event for the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund in Gaza.
One of the highlights of the event was a car show which includes car sound system, motorcycle and scooter exhibitions. More than 30 cars participated for the event as to support and donate funds for the needs in Gaza. Digital Project car club & KYOSHINKAI Crew dominated the car show scene on Sunday. It was a great event and it could be better if the weather was on our side.
