For over 17 years, the Mazda RX-7 has simply amazed us with its long lasting design and undeniably powerfulengine. This is the 3rd generation of Mazda’s renowned sports car, the Mazda RX-7 FD3S. The Mazda RX-7 features an impressive piece of engineering especially its engine. It uses a 1.3 litre sequential twin turbocharged rotary engine. Don’t let the 1.3 litre displacement fool you; the rotary engine produces more power & torque than its piston counterpart.
When you look at engine, the HKS T04S Turbo and the HKS Super Flow pod filter really stood out in the engine bay. It shows that the car is producing some serious power. An HKS wastegate is installed which regulates the turbo boost. Meanwhile an HKS downpipe extracts the exhaust gases more freely and more efficient so that the turbo doesn’t struggle to produce the boost and a custom straight exhaust pipe and exits through the Kakimoto Muffler. The air and fuel mixture which is compressed through the wankel engine is ignited with Greddy 9 and 10 racing sparkplugs.

Greddy pulley kit reduces the weight and inertia to reduce the parasitic power loss from the alternator and the compressor.
Walbro 255lph fuel pump ensure sufficient amount of fuel is sent to the engine and is regulated with a Sard fuel regulator with fuel pressure gauge.

According to the owner,a Blitz access ECU and a F Con SZ engine management system with F Con Navigator were installed by the previous owner. The downside of the current ecu is that there are currently no HKS Rotary PowerWriter in Brunei. In order to fine tune the engine management, the owner has to upgrade from its current ecu to a standalone engine management.
The RX-7 superb handling is further improved thanks to the lowered win TEIN SuperStreet adjustable coilovers. The original wheels were replaced with a lighter and stronger bronze Volk Racing TE37 measuring 8.5” in front with 235/40/18 and 9.5” 265/35/18in the rear which is secured with Rays LightWeight Alloy nuts.
RE Amemiya rear diffuser and Carbon Fiber GT wing helps to improve the downforce making the car more stable at high speeds.
Drivetrain
All the power from the engine is sent to the transmission with a Cusco hyper single 6 puck cerametallic clutch. A new twin plate clutch will be an upgrade for this RX-7 as the owner mentioned that the current clutch is no longer capable in handling the power produced by the engine.

Cooling System
One of the latest addition to the car is the Greddy specR type HG front mount intercooler kit. The front mount intercooler reduces the intake temperature from the hot turbo hence creating more power from the less dense cooler air and through the Greddy compression tube. The engine is cooled down with the Koyo Racing radiator . A Silicone radiator hose is used so that it can handle the pressure and last longer. A custom air separator tank extracts the air bubble from the boiling water in the radiator.
The engine oil is cooled with the RX-7 original twin oil cooler however a custom water spray is installed to further help in cooling the intercooler and the oilcooler.
Interior
An HKS DB boost, water temp and exhaust temp meter helps to monitor all the vital parameters of the engine making sure the engine is running healthy and spot the cause of engine problem such as boost spike, boost leak, high oil temp and exhaust temp to show if the engine is running lean or rich. The Boost meter sits nicely in the Greddy pillar pod and the other two meters are placed on the passenger side and facing the driver in the RE Amemiya meter pods.
