Brunei Carzine was invited for a Hi-Tea gathering last Saturday, 29th March, 2010, at the Jeruton Hotel. It was a pleasure to see the Brunei car scene still alive and well! Amongst the car clubs that spotted were the BSC, EVO, BZOCA and S15.

Peugeot takes top two spots in 12 Hours of Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (AP) — Alexander Wurz teamed with Marc Gene and Anthony Davidson to give Peugeot its first victory in the Twelve Hours of Sebring, leading the French manufacturer's sweep Saturday night in the endurance race.

Wurz drove the diesel-powered Peugeot 908 HDi FAP to a 13.817-second victory over the sister Peugeot driven by Sebastien Bourdais, Nicolas Minassian and Pedro Lamy. The Peugeots completed 367 laps on the road course.

Wurz and Gene also teamed for Peugeot's victory in June in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Greg Pickett, Klaus Graf and Sascha Maassen won in LMP2 in a Porsche RS Spyder, and Jaime Melo, Gimmi Bruni and Pierre Kaffer topped the GT2 class in a Ferrari F430 GT to give Risi Competizione its sixth straight victory in a major endurance race.

In the new LMPC class, Level 5 Motorsports' Scott Tucker, Christophe Bouchut and Mark Wilkins won handily in their ORECA FLM09 prototype.

Alex Job Racing swept the GT Challenge podium, with Butch Leitzinger, Juan Gonzalez and Leh Keen beating Bill Sweedler, Romeo Kapudija and Jan-Dirk Lueders.

Ford Focus RS

Premier Automobile unleashed its fastest hot hatch to date which is competing in the sports car segment. with 300hp and 440Nm of torque which enables this 1467kg to achieve a sub-6 second 0-62mph sprint. Premier Automobile will only brought in 6 units and 4 units are already sold. All of the same colour.





The Ford Focus RS is powered by a 2.5L 5-Cylinder engine just like the Ford Focus ST however the pistons and engine block are now strengthened with new and revised camshaft, cylinder head and a new turbocharger with increased boost levels and a high-efficiency intercooler.

All the revised parts enables the Duratec engine to generate from the previous 225hp to 300hp at 6000rpm and 440Nm of torque all the way from 2250 to 4500rpm.

The engine is also matched to a 6 speed, close-ratio, manual transmission with Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing Helical LSD which provides traction without compromising steering control. Getting the power to the ground more efficiently means minimal powerloss of straight-line or cornering grip and also eliminates the need for electronic traction aids.


The interior is also well built with carbon fiber accents and a water temp, boost and oil temp gauges sits on top of the dashboard facing the driver to monitor the engine's condition.



The "Ford Power" pushed start button is placed behind the 6 speed shift lever.


RS emblem can also be seen on the customized recaro seat.


Full racing light-weight recaro seats reduces the weight and secure the driver during hard cornering. As you see from the seat rails there's no electronic control for the seats giving it a racing feel. Blue stitching can be seen on the seats, steering, doors and shift-knob.

The Ford Focus RS is equipped with 19" wheels and hiding behind the wheels are massive 336mm ventilated front discs and uprated calipers which delivers powerful, progressive feel, while dissipating heat for confident, fade-free performance.

Keeping the wheels on the ground during cornering, acceleration and braking are uprated special sport springs and dampers with an uprated rear anti-roll bar and 40mm wider track. The retuned steering provides instant response and precise feedback. To reduce unwanted torque steer, the Ford Focus RS uses a clever version of the MacPherson strut and frontsuspension with a newly-developed RevoKnuckle. This system increases grip and maximise power by reducing the sensitivity of the wheels to acceleration and braking loads.

BMOG Weekend gathering @ SERASA & Pantai Kenangan

BMOG members and families gathered at Serasa Beach on Sunday, 14th Mar 2010 organized by Dream Charter & Brunei Mercedes Owner Group (BMOG) in conjunction with 26th National day celebration with the theme of Negaraku Brunei Darussalam.

Team start to gather at Komplex Sukan Mumong at 8.30 a.m. Doa was recite by Hairul before we start the journey.

Almost 20 Mercedes Owner displayed their vintage car collection at Serasa Beach & Pantai Sri Kenangan Tutong. The event was organize by Bohari (BMOG focal point Tutong District), Hj Norahmadi (BMOG organizer) & Rahman (BMOG focal point Brunei Muara).

Guest of honour for the event are the first Bruneian women to go to South Pole, DK Najibah Eradah PAM Al-Sufri which her opening speech supporting the event and encouraging the team to participate in Earth Hour. Dk Najibah also joined the team to sail around Serasa water.
The team proceed to Pantai Sri Kenangan Tutong for another stop before proceed back home.

Mclaren MP4-12C in the hands of Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button  

The Mclaren MP4-12C is certainly an impressive supercar and what a better way of showing its performance by F1 drivers. Two of the big names in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button got their hands on the prototype MP4-12C. The new Mclaren is getting impressive feed backs from both drivers.

Wangan's FD3S RX7

For over 17 years, the Mazda RX-7 has simply amazed us with its long lasting design and undeniably powerfulengine. This is the 3rd generation of Mazda’s renowned sports car, the Mazda RX-7 FD3S. The Mazda RX-7 features an impressive piece of engineering especially its engine. It uses a 1.3 litre sequential twin turbocharged rotary engine. Don’t let the 1.3 litre displacement fool you; the rotary engine produces more power & torque than its piston counterpart.

Engine

When you look at engine, the HKS T04S Turbo and the HKS Super Flow pod filter really stood out in the engine bay. It shows that the car is producing some serious power. An HKS wastegate is installed which regulates the turbo boost. Meanwhile an HKS downpipe extracts the exhaust gases more freely and more efficient so that the turbo doesn’t struggle to produce the boost and a custom straight exhaust pipe and exits through the Kakimoto Muffler. The air and fuel mixture which is compressed through the wankel engine is ignited with Greddy 9 and 10 racing sparkplugs.

Greddy pulley kit reduces the weight and inertia to reduce the parasitic power loss from the alternator and the compressor.


Walbro 255lph fuel pump ensure sufficient amount of fuel is sent to the engine and is regulated with a Sard fuel regulator with fuel pressure gauge.

According to the owner,a Blitz access ECU and a F Con SZ engine management system with F Con Navigator were installed by the previous owner. The downside of the current ecu is that there are currently no HKS Rotary PowerWriter in Brunei. In order to fine tune the engine management, the owner has to upgrade from its current ecu to a standalone engine management.


Suspension


The RX-7 superb handling is further improved thanks to the lowered win TEIN SuperStreet adjustable coilovers. The original wheels were replaced with a lighter and stronger bronze Volk Racing TE37 measuring 8.5” in front with 235/40/18 and 9.5” 265/35/18in the rear which is secured with Rays LightWeight Alloy nuts.

RE Amemiya rear diffuser and Carbon Fiber GT wing helps to improve the downforce making the car more stable at high speeds.

Drivetrain

All the power from the engine is sent to the transmission with a Cusco hyper single 6 puck cerametallic clutch. A new twin plate clutch will be an upgrade for this RX-7 as the owner mentioned that the current clutch is no longer capable in handling the power produced by the engine.

Cooling System


One of the latest addition to the car is the Greddy specR type HG front mount intercooler kit. The front mount intercooler reduces the intake temperature from the hot turbo hence creating more power from the less dense cooler air and through the Greddy compression tube. The engine is cooled down with the Koyo Racing radiator . A Silicone radiator hose is used so that it can handle the pressure and last longer. A custom air separator tank extracts the air bubble from the boiling water in the radiator.

The engine oil is cooled with the RX-7 original twin oil cooler however a custom water spray is installed to further help in cooling the intercooler and the oilcooler.

Interior

An HKS DB boost, water temp and exhaust temp meter helps to monitor all the vital parameters of the engine making sure the engine is running healthy and spot the cause of engine problem such as boost spike, boost leak, high oil temp and exhaust temp to show if the engine is running lean or rich. The Boost meter sits nicely in the Greddy pillar pod and the other two meters are placed on the passenger side and facing the driver in the RE Amemiya meter pods.
