As many car enthusiast know, a lot of tuning shops are battling it out to beat the Tsukuba Track record which is still conquered by the HKS CT230 EVO which was able to clear the Tsukuba Circuit under 55sec.


This Evo X may not be able to beat that record yet bit it is the fastest Evo X so far which was able to achieve 57.963 sec. Which was also driven by Nobuteru Taniguchi. The Evo X is still road registered and driven to the track to show the people that the part

"Every part G-Force has installed is out of its catalog, starting with a strengthened bottom end, which includes a billet crank, lightweight connecting rods and oversized Tomei forged pistons. These components raise the displacement to 2,234cc (87x94mm bore and stroke). Lots of time went into polishing and porting the head to guarantee optimal flow, which matches the increased duration and lift of the G-Force camshafts quite well.


Supplying the forced induction is the HKS GT3240 turbo, mounted to an HKS manifold and kept in check by the GT type II external wastegate. Gases are dumped through the front pipe into a 90mm titanium exhaust, both made by G-Force. The intercooler and piping are by HKS, while the intake side of things is taken care by a Colt Speed carbon-fiber airbox, which is designed to scoop air from the grille area creating a ram-air effect.

G-Force gave a lot of attention to the fuel supply, kicking things off in the tank with a pair of 255-lph fuel pumps. From the G-Force collector tank fuel travels under the car via braided lines and into the Sard fuel delivery rail. Massive Sard 1,000-cc/min injectors are governed by a G-Force engine management unit. Inside the stock manual transmission is a twin plate Exedy clutch while Ralliart mechanical front and rear LSDs were fitted to cope with the massive 570 hp and 477 ft-lbs of torque.


The handling and braking side of the project was taken care of by Fukuda-san of Sunbeam, a respected suspension specialist working out of a small shop in central Tokyo. Custom-valved Spirit Racing dampers were chosen for the application and coupled to KYB springs front and rear. Ralliart stiffened bushings help take the slack out of the links, promoting more precise and communicative feel through the steering wheel.


The braking was hardly going to be left stock with this amount of performance on tap, so Fukuda-san called up Endless and got them to send over their top of the line Monobloc calipers, 6-pots for the front and 4-pots in the rear. These are joined by floating two-piece discs all round, slotted with the recognizable Endless "E" mark. Sunbeam uses Volk Racing TE37 wheels for their amazing strength and low rotating mass, plus you really can't argue with the way bronze Volks look against a white body! The 18x10.5-inch rims are shod in new Advan A050 semi-slick tires that measure 265/35R18 all around. The last piece of the puzzle was left up to Varis to take care of, and by the looks of the car, Varis did it in its usual abundance of carbon style. Everywhere you look, there are superbly crafted carbon-fiber pieces, helping shave off unnecessary weight from critical areas of the car like the hood, doors and trunk. The rear doors are actually made of one single piece of carbon fiber and weigh in at less than 10 lbs each. The front doors use a lexan window riveted onto the CF door to also drop enormous amounts of weight over the stock counterparts. The aero kit is a new release from Varis, which includes the front bumper and side skirts while the massive GT wing and the underskirt diffuser are available as add-ons.

Functionality is the key word in the interior, the raw semi-dry carbon inside finish of the doors reminding you this is not your regular tuned street car. Recaro buckets and Takata belts offer the support needed to hold the driver in while instrumentation is kept simple, thanks to the addition of a Racepack IQ3 data logger, which joins the HKS EVC boost controller and HKS cam timing module. A nice touch is the stock S-AWC controller clipped onto one of the spokes of the Nardi steering wheel, allowing Taniguchi full control of the preset modes of Mitsubishi's 4WD system.

Building a successful time attack car is far from easy, but by combining forces Varis, G-Force and Sunbeam have created the perfect showcase for their skills and products. This EVO X is a car enthusiasts can relate to, which aside from the unquestionable skills of Taniguchi, has no prohibitively expensive prototype parts that help make it so extremely capable around Tsukuba. Britain's biggest and best car buyer's guide magazine, What Car? has announced their 2010 car of the year award. The award goes to the Peugeot 3008. The 3008 is a new crossover from Peugeot and certainly beaten Nissan's crossover Qashqai over the car of the year award.

BMW has unveiled their latest concept car development, the Concept Gran Coupé at this year Beijing Motor Show. The Concept Gran Coupé is a 4 door coupe and it looks fantastic. This is a new car segment that BMW has been working on and rumor has it that this probably be named as 8 series once it is in production.


The 4 door coupes segment has been pretty much dominated by the likes of Mercedes Benz CLS and Porsche Panamera, Finally Beemer has joined the band wagon. This could be an interesting year for BMW.

The body design of the BMW Concept Gran Coupé expresses sporty flair in its ultimate form. The 4-door vehicle clearly signals the very highest level of dynamic performance with its extremely elegant, flat and coupe-like proportions. Stretching the entire length of the vehicle and therefore measuring almost 5 metres, flowing lines dominate the design, giving rise to outstanding aerodynamic levels, just as the low centre of gravity reflects an agile driving response.

The front section is defined by the BMW kidney grille characteristic of the brand - an icon of body design which is not just central but also a dominating element of front design. The kidney grille of the BMW Concept Gran Coupé has a flat appearance, with an asymmetrical side view which emphasises the close attention to detail. The central section with the kidney grille is formally separated from other BMW icons such as the headlights and air inlets. The clarity of the LED front lights highlights the vehicle's precision and premium aspirations. The air inlet runs back an extremely long way into the side section, making the front section appear particularly wide. All elements of the front section appear to merge to form a single, elegantly curved movement.

The sporty, flat silhouette provides an impressive body height of just under 1.40 metres. This makes the BMW Concept Gran Coupé up to 100 millimetres flatter than the BMW 5 Series or the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The roof line tapers off gently into the rear, thereby elongating the vehicle's proportions. The forward-tilted shark nose visually extends the bonnet and creates characteristic BMW proportions with its forward-pointing dynamism. This stretched character is also highlighted by the side lines, where there is a deliberate avoidance of the typical sill line. The flat proportions make the window graphics appear extremely narrow and dynamic at the same time. Another BMW design icon, the Hofmeister kink, is especially strikingly formed - additionally emphasising the exclusive character of the vehicle. The frameless doors give the BMW Concept Gran Coupé a modern character since the glass surfaces appear to merge seamlessly without being interrupted by columns.

At the rear, only design elements such as the lights and tailpipe trim appear to be visible at first sight. The entire rear section appears slimmer and lighter at the centre, though still exuding power and dynamic performance since the volume is reinforced towards the sides. The L-shaped light banks feature a slight, almost subtle curve and the entire design of the lines and surfaces highlights the vehicle's elegant overall appearance. The third brake light, positioned in the rear window, is also fitted with LED technology. It takes up the kink in the roof and illuminates the entire width of the rear window. The powerfully flared wheel arches above the rear axle highlight the particularly sporty character of the BMW Concept Gran Coupé.

Another highly sporty and also elegant feature is the rim concept in which the individual spokes extend deep into the centre of the rim towards the hub, giving the rim a striking three-dimensional quality. The spokes themselves are not solid but relief-milled, giving them a visual lightness.

The sculptural shaping style characteristic of the entire body design of the BMW Concept Gran Coupé permits a unique interaction between concave and convex surfaces. It also enables the light to be selectively reflected and channelled. Thus the exterior mirrors integrated in the window shaft appear very light, blending harmoniously into the side view since their shape assimilates the entire line styling. The BMW Concept Gran Coupé is a further development of the classic design of a notchback sedan in which the individual body sections merge harmoniously into a flat, elongated and at the same time dynamic overall image. The effect of this 4-door vehicle derives not just from specific highlights but from its overall appearance, which authentically reflects its character. The car's dynamic potential is embodied in its proportions and lines, signalling power but also elegance and forward thrust.
